Team Builders 2017 Layouts

One thing I love about Close To My Heart events is that they always include beautiful creative projects. The January Team Builders Event was no exception. This two day conference was packed with exceptional buisness training and networking. In addition, we received supplies to make 10 beautiful scrapbook pages.

The themes in these pages went along with the overall messages of the event to dream big and bring others along with you as you grow. We were encouraged to use these pages to document and dream about our life. I used these pages to celebrate the things that are important to me.

For my first page, I choose a picture from last summer's  convention with my Close To My Heart sister, Faye, because remembering all the great times we've had together makes me smile. In addition to being a team member, she is a great friend.

These pages show pictures from the Team Builders event where had the opportunity to connect with Home Office staff and consultant friends. A highlight a visit from founder and CEO, Jannette Lynton. She is an amazing woman and as always when I hear her speak, I was truly inspired. Although she is facing enormous challenges physically, her spirit is strong. She encouraged us to never give up, but to always take care of ourselves along the way.

The next layout includes pictures of two of my favorite people getting creative with me. My husband and daughter are the loves of my life. These pages reminds me to remember how blessed I am to have them in my life.

The next layout is reserved for my dreams. The titles for the journaling prompts encourage me to put into words the things I hope, like and can do.

The final layout is a place to celebrate life. I am so blessed to have a life filled with amazing people and adventures. The pictures on this page represent little moment from the last few months. As I was leaving a crop, I glanced up and saw the hot air balloon so I snapped a quick picture. I took the second picture on a lunch break during the Team Builders event when I wondered up to the roof. Of course the last picture is from Disney World when Minnie made an appearance at our convention banquet last summer.

The final page of this set of layouts is focused on the future and the title reminds me to not limit my dreams, but to be fearless and brave.

Recipe: Rustic Home Fundamentals, Uptown Fundamentals, Whimsy Fundamentals, Adventure Fundamentals, Springtime Complements, My Girl Complements, Journaling Prompts Stamp Set (B1548)

Have you ever scrapbooked your hopes and dreams? This was a challenge for me but I love the result and reviewing the pages is so encouraging.

Dream On,

Create 6 pages with the Forever & Always Cut Above Kit!

Yesterday, I posted two bonus layouts I created using the cards included in the Little Ones Cut Above Scrapbooking Kit. Using these designs and a few additional sheets of cardstock, I was able to stretch my kit to create a total of 6 pages.

I've also created additional bonus layouts for the Forever & Always kit!

The Forever & Always Cut Above Kit includes the materials you need to create a two-page layout, 12 4" x 6" cards plus 4 Memory Protector (2 full size & 2 divided into pockets).

The three layouts in this post use the contents of the kit plus a few sheets of solid cardstock (White, Slate & Whisper).

Forever & Always Layout

The first layout follows the directions included in the kit using wood grain base pages, delicate die-cut doilies, layers of flowers and gold foil accents.

This I Promise You Layout

For the second layout, a striped card into 1/2" strips which create a frame for the title and photos. The title comes from a card which was trimmed down and matted on white and Slate cardstock. Additional cards were used to create banners, floral & dotted accent areas and a journaling box.

Love Layout

The primary design for the final layout was created by four cards which had wood grain backgrounds. These were butted next to each other and once attached securely to the page, the seam is practically invisible. Narrow pieces of Slate cardstock frame these cards. Additional cards were used to create additional flower embellishments and wide banners. The center areas is just wide enough to fit six 4" x 6" photos.

If you have any questions about these layouts, I'd be glad to send you measurements and additional tips. Comment below or drop me an email.

Don't forget that the Forever & Always Cut Above kit used for these layouts is half price during April -- just $7.48! You'll also want to check out the Little One kit which is also on sale. Both of these kits retire at the end of the month (or sooner if supplies run out), so be sure to orders yours today!

Create 6 pages with the Little One Cut Above Kit!

Earlier today, I posted the details of the Little One Cut Above kit as it was designed to be used. For those of you who prefer traditional scrapbooking, I've turned this kit into 3 two-page layouts by adding just a few sheets of cardstock.

You may recall that these kits include the materials needed to create one 2-page layout plus 12 cards (4" x 6") that you can put in the insert into pocket Memory Protectors along with your pictures. Although I love including pocket scrapbooking in my albums, I like to include my very favorite pictures on traditional pages. The cards include all the elements needed to create scrapbook pages: titles, embellishments (just trim them down) and journaling.

Using the pocket cards included in the kit, plus a few sheets of White, Slate and Whisper cardstock, I created two BONUS layouts!

You are So Loved Layout

This layout was created by trimming a number of the journaling cards. The basic design of the pages started with three patterned cards which were cut into 2" x 2" blocks and stacked them across the bottom of both pages. A sentiment card ("you are so loved") was trimmed down to 4" x 4" for the title. Additional cards were trimmed to create the embellishments, jounnaling and a photo mat.

My Sweet Baby Layout

This layout also uses a pocket card for the title ("my sweet baby"). Two additional full sized cards are used in this layout. Additional cards were trimmed to create the arrow ("on this day") and the ombre banners on each side.

If you have any questions about these layouts, I'd be glad to send you measurements and additional tips. Comment below or drop me an email

Don't forget that the Little One Cut Above kit used for these layouts is half price during April -- just $7.48! You'll also want to check out the Forever & Always kit which is also on sale. Both of these kits retire at the end of the month (or sooner if supplies run out), so be sure to orders yours today!

Little One Cut Above Kit --- Quick, Beautiful and now 50% off!

The current seasonal Idea Book introduced a new way to scrapbook called "Cut Above Kits". There are currently two of these kits, but there are more on the way soon! (hint, hint...) Because they are tucked away in the back of the catalog, it is easy to skip over them as we look at the more familiar packaging of papers and embellishments.

But these kits really are gems and it's the perfect time to give them a try because they on sale at 50% off through the end of April!  There are two kits to choose from: Little One and Forever & Always.

Let's take a closer look at the Little One Cut Above Kit. This complete kit includes materials needed to make a 2-page scrapbook layout (die-cuts, stickers, & photo placeholders), 12 coordinating 4"x6" pocket cards, 4 memory protectors (2 full size & 2 divided) plus instructions.

Because everything is already cut and ready to assemble, you can complete the layout with absolutely no fuss. Then add your remaining pictures and some of the decorative cards to the divided pages and "Viola!", you have 6 scrapbooking pages done! Watch this ONE MINUTE video to see how quickly the pages go together.

Even though these pages are quick to assemble, they retain the look and feel of being handmade. If you are a decorative scrapbooker, they will fit beautifully with your other pages. If you are a simple or pocket scrapbooker, these pages can serve as title or focal pages in your books. The secret is the details like the printed resist/watercolor pattern on the base pages, unique circular page design and trendy banners in the corner.

If you are not a pocket scrapbooker, this kit gives you a chance to give it a try. Not only do you get the decorative cards, you also get two pocket scrapbooking Memory Protectors. You'll love how easy it is to slide your photos and cards into these pages.

These kits would make a perfect gift for a new mom or grandmother, even if she is not a scrapbooker.

Don't forget that this kit is on sale in April for just $7.48! Also, it will retire along most of the products in the Seasonal Expressions Idea Book at the end of the month (or sooner if supplies run out), so be sure to orders yours today.

Quick Tip: Cut four 5" x 7" mats from a single sheet of scrapbook paper

Earlier today, I was cutting 5" x 7" mats for a page kit and thought others may be interested to see how to get FOUR from a standard sheet of scrapbook paper (12" x 12").

The trick is to not make your first cut all the way across the paper. Otherwise, at most you will be able to create THREE 5" x 7" pieces.

Here's how you do it:
STEP 1: Make a cut 5 inches from the left side of the paper just over 5 inches long.

STEP 2: Turn your paper so that this cut is perpendicular to the blade and 7" from the top of the paper trimmer. Make a cut 7" from the edge starting at the top and stopping at the previous cut. If you are using a Fiskar's paper trimmer, you can use the horizontal handle of the blade casing as a guide for where to stop. This creates your first 5" x 7" piece!

STEP 3: Turn the paper 90 degrees counterclockwise and cut 5" from the left edge. This creates your second 5" x 7" piece!

STEP 4: Repeat STEP 4 to create the third 5" x 7" piece.

STEP 5: This leaves you with an odd L-shaped piece of paper. Trim the 2" square off to create the final 5" x 7" piece.

Want a visual? Here's a video showing the process.

VIOLA! It's that simple! With a little practice you'll wonder why you settled for getting three pieces in the past!

Springtime in Dallas: Flower Market layout

This coming weekend, I'm excited to be heading to Dallas. Although it is going to be a quick trip, I'm hoping to get a chance to see some of the famous Texas Bluebonnets. According to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, we are right in the middle of the season.

I can't wait to get a few pictures to put on this layout I made using the Flower Market Cricut cartridge. I love that this cartridge has such a variety of detailed flowers. In an earlier post, I included a link to a document listing of all 50 flowers on the cartridge.

The layers of the flowers are cut from Glacier, Pacifica and Sapphire solid cardstock. The leaves and stems are made of Willow. Scattered over the page are stars cut from Lemon cardstock. The white tag and the "in TEXAS" from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge which is retired. (I have one left in inventory -- message me if you'd like it!) All remaining cuts are from the new Flower Market Cricut cartridge.

On the outer edges, I used coordinating papers from the Enchantment and Adventure Fundamentals line. These patterned papers add more interest than solid cardstock without overwhelming the the floral theme of the page. Starting on the outer edges, you can see strips of the Sapphire thin stripes, Pacifica dots and Lemon broad stripes papers. White Twine and Blue Enamel Gems finish off the page.

While in Texas, I will be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo at the Gaylord Texas Resort in Grapevine. If you will be in the area, please stop by the Close To My Heart booth to say "Hi!". If you can come on Friday morning, you'll have a chance to make this layout as a create & take!

March Thin Cut Madness!

Thin cuts give you a fast and easy way to cut all kinds of shapes for your crafting. Although we just started carrying thin cuts about a year ago, we now have a wide variety including titles, sentiments, basic shapes and cuts that coordinate with stamp sets!

Titles and Sentiments

Whether you are a card maker or scrapbooker, you'll love these script words.

Even though they have the look of a fine tip marker they will cut cleanly every time. Even glitter paper cuts beautifully --- don't you love the glittery Sea Glass "happy" scrolling across this layout?

Basic Shapes

Want some great basic shapes to dress up your project. We have thin cut sets with circles, stars and hearts!

Coordinated with Stamp Sets

Finally, we have a number of sets that coordinate with our stamp sets. Cut out the shape then stamp on it to create a custom embellishment for your project!

For example, the the cupcake, party hat and candle from the Sweet Birthday Stamp Set  pictured above can be cut with precision using the coordinating thin cuts. Thanks to our clear acrylic stamp sets, positioning the design on the cut image is a piece of {cup}cake!

There are currently eight Thin Cut sets that coordinate with Stamp Sets.

Cut It Out Special

This month, all of the thin cuts --- titles, sentiments, basic and coordinating --- are all available at 25% off! In fact, there are several thin cut/stamp set bundles like the Sweet Birthday one are also discounted!

Note that the full retail price is shown in my online store, but the reduced price will be shown when added to the cart. Alternatively, you can go directly to the cart view (click on the cart image at the top of the screen) and scroll down to see all of the Thin Cut sets and bundles at their discounted prices.

The Best Deal:

If you really love Thin Cuts, I have an EVEN BETTER deal for you! When you join my team in March, you'll get the Sweet Birthday Thin Cut bundle for FREE with your kit! In addition, once you are approved (typically less than 24 hours after applying), you can apply your consultant discount to the already reduced prices of as many additional Thin Cuts as you'd like. That brings the total savings almost 50% off!
