Register for the Next All You Can Make Cards Workshop --- October 5th

I've got a couple questions for you: Do you send cards? How many do you send per month? How much would you estimate that you spend on cards each year?

How would you like to have a fun, creative night where you make cute, original cards at a price much less than you have been spending on ready-made cards like the one below?

I'd like to invite you to my All You Can Make Card Workshops next Monday (Oct 5).

This is the ultimate Girls Night Out! Why?
  • It's fun!  Be prepared for a relaxing evening as you work at your own pace while visiting with the other card-makers.
  • It's simple! All of the cards are pre-cut and ready to assemble. You just grab the tools required and get started.
  • It's eductional! The cards use a variety of techniques from stamping to distressing to embossing. Between the written directions plus my personal assistance, you will learn some new tricks of the trade.
  • It's economical! Most participants create 3-5 cards per hour which makes the cost per card much cheaper than a typical {boring!} pre-made card.
  • It's productive! You will leave with an amazing feeling of satisfaction that your time was well spent.
Here's just a few more of the cards currently available at the workshop:

Each month I add a few more cards to the mix. Last month, I added the Christmas Card below and I'll be adding several more this time so you can get a jump start on your holiday preparations.

Interested? Let me know if you have any questions or sign up using the link below. If this is your first time, be sure to select the discounted price!

Have a wonderfully creative week,

Get organized with my {updated} Evernote stamp notebook!

Do you ever feel like you spend more time organizing your creative space more than actually creating? Do you struggle to find ways to store your stamp sets (and other products) in a way that allows you to locate the right one quickly?

Whether you are a consultant or customer, I'd love to help you get organized so you can focus on more important things --- like getting creative! I've been using Evernote to keep track of all of my stamp sets for a couple years and am excited to share it with you.

In this post, I address a few questions I get about my Evernote stamp notebook.

Get the notebook now>>

The current version of my notebook includes all of the stamp sets available as of September 1, 2015 from Close To My Heart. This includes all the sets that were just released in the new Annual Inspirations and Holiday Expression Idea Books. As of September 1, 2015, there are 374 sets! Many of these stamp sets are not in the current Idea Books, but you can see them all when you use the Evernote notebook.

Within the notebook, there is a note for each of the stamp sets, including consultant-only business builder stamps, hostess-only stamps, workshops on the go stamps and stamps of the month.

The name of the note includes both the item number and the name. This allows you to store you physical stamps alpha-numerically by item number.

The body of the note includes any sentiments on the stamp set and a link to the image on the Close To My Heart website. Tags include all of the images on the set plus any themes or holidays represented.

This database has completely revolutionized how I store my stamp sets and saves me ton of time hunting for stamp sets. I used to try to store my stamp sets by theme or holiday. It was a very cumbersome system for many reasons. For example, there were a lot of sets that didn't fall clearly into one category and others included stamps from more than one category.

For example this adorable set, Miracle of Christmas (D1656) has cute woodland animals that could be used year-round. It also has gifts that could be used for birthday or shower projects.

If your stamps are sorted by category, you will need to choose a single category for this set. When you are working on projects not related to that category, it will not be found as an option. Using Evernote to organize your stamps solves that issue since a set can have as many tags as are needed to completely describe what the stamp set is about. This stamp set will be included when you filter by any of these tags.

I now store my physical stamp sets in our large organizers by item number. When i need a stamp set --- whether I have a particular one in mind or need to choose one -- I always go to Evernote first.  Using the filters, I search the notes to find just the right stamp set.  Since the title of the note includes Item Number, I can quickly locate the chosen stamp set in my storage boxes.

According to the Evernote website, this program is "available on everything you use every day." This means that you can access Evernote from your PC (on web or in a Windows app), iPad, iPhone and Android devices.  This means that the information you load into Evernote is available to view and search anytime, anywhere.

I love being able to pull up the stamp sets on my phone. As a consultant, this is really handy when I am at an event and am helping a customer find the perfect stamp set for their projects. To get started using this program, visit evernote.com and find the apps for your devices.

You can request access to my stamp notebook is available by making a purchase on my Close To My Heart website of $25 or more. Join my team to get access for FREE!

Before you place your order, I'd suggest you check out my other Evernote notebooks. I now have notebooks for the Close To My Heart Cricut cartridges and the papers in Studio J. You can receive access to these in addition to the stamps notebook with a larger purchase.

I am thrilled when I get comments like this back from happy stampers:
  • Your program CHANGED MY LIFE! ...it was total chaos!
  • Now that I see how easy it is to use, I'll do the same with my SU stamps as well.
  • Thank you for offering this organized data for our stamps! Much appreciated!
  • They are GREAT. Her directions are WONDERFUL!
  • I'm excited to begin using it.
  • Thanks again for the wonderful program. I will have fun getting organized.
  • I just watched your video...You have thought of everything :)
If you have any questions about the notebooks, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'd love to help you get more organized.

Happy Day!

Making Connections: Choose Happy!

Last Friday, I enjoyed a great night out with some of my bestest buddies! I know Close To My Heart knows how to put on a good event, and the St. Louis Making Connections meeting was no exception. This was a great time for of LEARNING, CREATIVITY & COMMUNITY!

The keynote address was given by Chief Communications Offer, Monica Wihongi. Her message about choosing to be happy was exactly what I needed to hear. The last few months have been pretty challenging for me medically and recently I have to admit that I’ve let the circumstances get me down. Monica gave us lots to think about plus some great action steps to become more positive and choose happiness regardless of circumstances.

Following her address, we were given supplies to complete two projects. The first is this layout which is primarily made with solid cardstock. Detail is added with the My Acrylix stamp set In Review (C1622), the Glacier Fundamental Assortment (Z3102) and Designer Creations Mini Frames (Z2029).

Making Connections - Cardstock Layout

Our second project was album pages for a daily Christmas book using the White Pines Picture My Life program. This pack includes a variety of Christmas themed cards including one for each day in December leading up to Christmas.

For our project, we made the cover and opening pages shown below and were given examples of how to use the remaining cards with the divided memory protectors. Pictures and memory notes can be mixed with the cards to create a book that celebrates the special and everyday events of the holiday season.

Making Connections - White Pines Layout

One of my favorite things about any Close To My Heart event is the opportunity to see friends and make new ones. It was really special because three of my team members attended with me!
Toward the end of the event, we celebrated the accomplishments of those in attendance. I was super surprised to win a prize for the most recruits in the prior quarter. As an aware I was given this beautiful layout created by the amazing Close To My Heart artists.

A few more awards were given out as well as door prizes. We also had a chance to buy event exclusive Base & Bling stickers with the proceeds going to Operation Smile.

Since our event was fairly small, it felt more intimate and cozy. Here’s a picture of our group.

Thank you Close To My Heart for coming to St. Louis!

Events such as this are one of the reasons I love being a Close To My Heart consultant. If you are interested in learning how you can be a part of this special company, please let me know. I’d love to talk with you!

Hello, Life! Pocket Scrapbooking

Yesterday, I showed you a layout I made which showcased photo from a recent trip to the Missouri Botanical Garden's Lantern Festival. Hello, Life! Scrapbooking Summer Memories

Summer is officially over, but I don't want to forget the happy memories made during my favorite season.

In August, our family visited the Missouri Botanical Gardens. In addition to all the normal beauty of this location, we were there for the Lantern Festival which included an acrobat show.

This Zoe layout captures the bright and cheerful colors of the acrobat costumes and the silk-covered lanterns. It also showcases the faces of some of my favorite people.

I had way more pictures than would fit on this page, so I attached an mini-album to hold a five more photos plus a journaling card. I used three 3" x 4" flip flaps connected on the edges so that it folds out accordion.

The bottom Flip Flap is attached to the memory protector so that the mini-album sits just above the photo in the bottom right corner of the page.

Here's what the completed page looks like with the flip flap mini-album closed.

These layouts use the amazing Hello, Life! Scrapbooking stamp set that is only available during September that is filled with words to celebrate all the seasons of life. You can order a set for yourself on my Close To My Heart website for just $13.95.

In addition to this one, Close To My Heart issued two other stamp sets for National Stamping Month. One is focused on card-making and one for pocket scrapbooking. You can check out all of them

I hope you've enjoyed seeing this simple layout made up of just paper and ink plus a great stamp set.

The new Nevermore Scrapbooking Workshop is ready!!

They're creepy and they're kooky.
Mysterious and spooky,
They're all together ooky,

What am I talking about? The Addams Family?

No, the pages in the new Nevermore Scrapbooking workshop!

In my earlier post about this workshop, I mentioned that I was trying to capture the feel of the Disneyland Haunted Mansion ride -- fun and spooky mixed with creative charm. Designing these layouts was a lot of fun and I'm excited to share them with you.

This kit includes all the papers and embellishments to complete 3 full two-page layouts! Over 20 sheets of paper go into each kit plus full packs of Nevermore Assortment and Complements.

Each layout has a different Halloween theme: a haunted house scene, spooky steampunk and cute boo crew for your costume pictures. Between the Cricut cuts and coordinating Nevermore products, each layout has lots of fun details.

The pages come together "freaky fast" because:
  • Papers are cut and ready to assemble (including MANY Cricut shapes)
  • Layouts showcase standard 4" x 6" photos, so NO CROPPING!
  • Additional pictures can be added easily with Flip Flaps
  • No stamping required
  • Nevermore Complements and Assortment packs add finishing touches
  • Full color Workshop Guide is included with each kit
  • Pieces for each kit are packaged in a separate zip top bag

Welcome to your new room, Esther!

A couple months ago, I helped my sister create a gift for her friend who was waiting for her sweet baby to arrive. She wanted to make a mural for the nursery that reflected her Chinese heritage. Here are some pictures of the completed room just a few weeks before they received permission to travel to meet their daughter, Esther.

The entire project was made with removable indoor vinyl which was cut on my Cricut Explore. The vinyl setting is amazing since it makes a "kiss" cut, which leaves the paper backing intact. This type of cut makes it simple to peel off the finished pieces.

In order to maintain a link to her heritage, we used Design Space to build a custom vinyl image that had her English and Chinese names in multiple fonts. Once the image was cut, transfer paper was used to keep the individual pieces spaced properly until it could be applied to the wall.

The flowers, leaves and butterflies are Cricut images. (Sorry, I don't remember the cartridges. I had a subscription at the time so we hunted through the whole image library to find ones that we liked.)

My sister drew the pandas and the tree. We uploaded the panda drawings into Design Space and then cut them with the Cricut Explore. My sister cut the tree out of brown vinyl by hand.

After all the pieces were cut, we mailed them to Esther's mom. I had an idea of how it would all turn out, but the final result was much better than I could imagine.

Nevermore "Halloween Fright" Layout -- kit coming soon!

When the crypt doors creak and tombstones quake
Spooks come out for a screaming wake
Happy haunts materialize and begin to vocalize
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize

If you recognized those words, you may be almost as big of a Disney fan as I am. It's the first verse of the theme song on the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. This ride has a magical mix of fun and scary I was trying to capture in my new Nevermore scrapbook workshop.

Here's a sneak peek of the first of three layouts that will be in the this Halloween kit.

The spooky scene in this layout is made up of images from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge cut from the papers from the Nevermore collection. Details were added using pieces from the coordinating Complements pack.

I had a lot of fun designing this exclusive kit and will be sharing the remaining layouts as well as how to order soon. Stay tuned for the rest of the spooky details of this kit!

Paper Garden, September Stamp of the Month–Get it for just $5!

Introducing Paper Garden, the September Stamp of the Month! Full of floral beauty, the September stamp of the month is perfect for both cards and scrapbook layouts. Paper Garden includes silhouette flower images that look like they were cut made from scraps of paper – maybe old newspaper print or love letters. Two of the flowers and one leaf can be cut on the Cricut (Artiste cartridge) which gives you fun layering options.

First, let’s look at what you get when you order Paper Garden, the September stamp of the month. This clear acrylic stamp set has 10 flower related images, plus a chain link fence which would make a great background design.

To inspire you, let’s look at some artwork made with this stamp set. If you don’t have a copy of the Holiday Expressions Idea Book, you may have missed this beautiful layout created by the Close To My Heart artists.

1509-sotm-page (1)

For this family layout,, the artist took advantage of the images on the set that coordinate with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge (outlined in red above). The raised flowers and leaves look like they are fancy cut, but they were simply made use of the Cricut then stamped.

1509-sotm-page - details

The word “Love” and the letters for “this moment” are also from the Artiste cartridgeI love all the dimension when these cut outs were layered on top of the flowers stamped on the base page. Beautiful!
