Thanks a Bunch Card using Pigment Ink Embossing

Bunch Card

One of my favorite stamp sets in the Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book is Ornate Blooms. This stamp set is proof positive that clear acrylix stamp sets are great for detailed stamping. It is amazing how beautifully these intricate designs transfer to your paper.

Much of the artwork I've seen using this stamp set have incorporated some form of "adult coloring". Also the images on this stamp set can be cut out using the coordinating set of thin cuts.

I wanted to go a different direction and decided to see how it would stand up to embossing.

Bunch Card Embossing

To get this unique coloring, stamp with Lagoon, Pear and Honey pigment inks. To create the ombre effect, first tap the stamp a few times in the center on the lighter ink color, then tap on a darker color toward the edges.

Because pigment ink sets on top of the paper (instead of soaking in like dye ink), be sure to press gently straight down to prevent it from smearing. Before the ink had a chance to dry, sprinkle on clear embossing powder. Next heat the stamped areas with a craft heat gun. I love watching the embossing powder melt and turn shiny.

It is hard to capture on film how pretty and dimensional the raised design is. The sentiment for this card is from the Floral Banner stamp set.

Bunch Card Detail

Because of the beautifully shiny and dimensional stamping, this card really didn't need additional embellishment. However I added a few of the green enamel triangles to add just a little more pizzazz.

So next time you are looking for a way to dress up a card, remember the pigment ink/embossing powder combo.

Three Compelling Reasons to Order Your Albums Today

Did you know that all of our current album designs are being retired to make room for new ones in August?  In addition, the May special offering 25% off the retail price of the albums has been extended until July 31 or until supplies run out.

This means there are at least 3 compelling reasons to stock up on your albums today.

1) The current designs may not be available much longer. These popular designs have been retired and are only available until supplies run out. In fact some of them have already run out! If you see something you like, place your order today.

2) The current price of $26.21 is the lowest price ever for these sturdy, professional scrapbooking albums. Close To My Heart is motivated to moved this albums off the shelf to make room for the new designs and is offering an unprecedented 25% savings over the regular retail price of $34.95.

3) These albums count toward my current Extra Magical Mystery Gathering. Add just a little more product to your album order to get a free pack of Magical Complements plus have your name added to the Mystery Hostess drawing! Read this post for more information.

Types of album

To help you decide which type of album is right for you, here is a little more information about the D-ring and Post-Bound albums.

The D-Ring albums have 1.5” rings which allow you to add to your album as you make create new pages. These are popular with people who do pocket style scrapbooking because all of divided Memory Protectors lie flat when open.

The post-bound style is idea for showcasing classic 12” x 12” scrapbook layouts side by side with the post holes hidden in the binding. The number of Memory Protectors will vary depending on the thickness of your scrapbook pages.

Both albums provide a sturdy book to share your memories for years to come.

Bonus Happy Times Layout Directions

Looking for what to make with the left over Happy Times* paper and other workshop supplies? Here’s a layout I made with paper, Picture My Life cards and embellishments not used in the workshop projects.

Happy Times Layout 1o

*The Happy Times paper was available exclusively in May 2016. If you missed out on this special, you can order the paper pack or full workshop HERE.

This layout has space for three 4” x 6” pictures (1 horizontal and 2 vertical). To complete this layout as shown, you will also need 2 sheets of White cardstock for bases plus 1 sheet of Canary cardstock.

Cutting Guide:

  • Canary Floral B&T – 6” x 12” , 6” x 6”
  • Teal Stripe B&T – 2.75” x 12”, 2.75” x 6”, 6” x 12 (use reverse side), 1.5” x 2” (cut 5)
  • Canary Cardstock – 4” x 6” (cut 4), 3” x 4”

Assembly Tips:

Use the photo of the completed layout above for general paper placement. Cover the seam between the teal stripe and floral prints with a piece of White/Gold ribbon.

Trim 1/8” from each side of the “love this live” Picture My Life card. Stamp small flowers in Canary ink and leaves in Glacier in the bottom left corner. Add a strip of Gold Shimmer trim across the bottom of the card.

Trim 1/8” from each side of the triple heart Picture My Life card and add a strip of Gold Shimmer trim across the bottom of the card before adding to the right page.

Dovetail the short side of each of the five small teal striped rectangles. Arrange as a banner on the right side of the page. Add Gold Sequins between each banner pieces, plus a couple other clusters to finish off the pages.

*All of these are products used for the Happy Times Scrapbooking Workshop.

Happy Father’s Day Artiste Shirt & Tie Card

This weekend we will be honoring our Fathers!
Father's Day Card

You still have time to make this card before Sunday thanks to the Artiste Cricut cartridge. The card, tie and pocket are on page 75 of the handbook. I cut my card at 4.25” tall and it fits in a standard A2 envelope.

Here’s what the card base looks like when you cut it out. It is a top-fold card, so you are looking at the front of the card with the card back above it upside down.

Father's Day Card - piece

To assemble, the first thing you will do is fold the base in half on the horizontal score line. You will notice two slits at the top of the card separating the collar from the shirt. Fold these down at an angle on the score lines.

Use a little adhesive to secure collar.  The stamping on the pocket is from D1560 Holiday Tags. I absolutely love this stamp set because it covers pretty much every holiday and has the great frames that can be cut using the Artiste cartridge.

***Important note: Both this stamp set and the Artiste cartridge will retire on July 31***

A nice finishing detail is the stitching which was drawn with a journaling pen. The tie and knot was cut from retired paper pack Timberline.
